Located near the park entrance is the Kilauea Visitor Center - a good place to start your visit.
The visitor center is open from 7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, year round. Here you can view exhibits about the park, watch a 30-minute film called Born of Fire... Born of the Sea, learn about current eruption activity or take a short guided walk with one of the park rangers.
The schedule of ranger presentations is posted on the Ranger Activities bulletin board in the Kilauea Visitor Center each morning at 9:00 a.m. There is also a sales outlet for the Hawaii Natural History Association.
After Dark in the Park programs are offered on Tuesday evenings, 2 or 3 times a month. Guest speakers offer a wide range of topics of interest including geology, biology, and Hawaiian culture and history. The public is invited to attend these programs.
