Wallis and Futuna Articles and Links
The Wallis and Futuna Islands consist of two small groups of volcanic islands located in Polynesia in the South Pacific. The principal towns are Mata Utu on Wallis, and Sigave on Futuna. The islands take their name from English navigator Samuel Wallis who claimed possession of the islands for England in 1767. The islands have been under French control since 1842, and became a territory of France in 1961.
