A BargainMy Review
The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel is a one of Castle Resorts and Hotels. It is located just 2 miles from Hilo Airport and just a few minutes from downtown Hilo.
Of the three hotels on Banyan Drive, this is my favorite. The hotel is a little bit dated, but it's very nice by Hilo standards.
You'll notice that the lobby is located on the second level, above the parking garage and meeting rooms. This is because Hilo has a history of tsunamis.
Right nearby are the Liliuokalani Gardens, a beautiful park which makes a great place for a stroll.
The restaurant has recently undergone a complete renovation which was needed. I've always found the food to be good, if not great for dinner. They have large buffets on Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Breakfasts are very good.
