I have stayed at the Sheraton Kauai on several occasions and never been disappointed. It is located in the Poipu area of Kauai and the beaches here are beautiful. It's not unusual to see a Hawaiian monk seal lounging on the beach.
The entire resort was destroyed in Hurricane Iniki in 1992 and was rebuilt. It has been through several renovations since.
If you like Starwood Hawaii properties you'll love this resort as well. The rooms are very nice, but I encourage you to get one in the part of the resort that gives you ocean views.
Your room can be quite a walk away from the lobby and restaurants.
The pool is very nice and the beach itself at the resort is perfect.
Shells is a great restaurant - one of the best on Kauai. Breakfast or afternoon cocktails at The Point is perfect at sunrise or sunset.
Almost every afternoon there is some form of entertainment during the cocktail hour such as hula dancers, Japanese drummers and on Fridays they have a nice luau.
